We are offering a healthy alternative to the mayhem of the St Patrick’s day! A time to de-stress, unwind and cleanse your body and mind, to return to a greater sense of calm and stillness which is actually our natural state! We will celebrate St Patrick’s Day together in our own special way.  It will allow you to take some well deserved time for yourself to completely de-stress, unwind and return to a greater sense of calm and stillness which is our natural state. You will leave at the end of the weekend feeling rested yet energised, calm, grounded, open and light with a deeper sense of connection to yourself and the world around you.

The yoga practices throughout the weekend will focus strongly on boosting the immune system and energy levels as we begin to emerge from less active winter months and prepare for the arrival of spring and the renewed sense of hope, enthusiasm and awakening which accompanies this lovely time of the year. The practice is approached safely using the Vinyasa Krama – (step by step, breath connected movement) system which teaches us to place everything in the correct way so the practice can become a meditation in movement. This system allows practitioners of all levels from beginners to advanced to work at their own pace and explore both their strengths and weaknesses in a safe and structured way using fundamental building blocks and modifications and variations of each pose where necessary.

In the 4 Hatha Yoga sessions over this weekend we will work on:
• building sequences of asanas (postures) which are suitable for this time of the year
• We will take an in-depth look at the invigorating and heat building sequences of the traditional Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations)
• We will also explore Pranayama (Breathing) practices
• We will work to unlock some of the blocked, tight and restricted areas often present in our bodies due to the stresses, strains and demands of modern living through targeted and generall warm up sequences
• We will address the issues that can arise in the platforms/stabilising junctions of the ankles & feet, hips & pelvis, and shoulders and neck and work to free up the spine so we can open up once more to spring and new beginnings through this beautiful, ancient and powerful practice.
You will leave at the end of the weekend feeling rested yet energised, calm, grounded, open and light with a deeper sense of connection to yourself and the world around you.

Retreat Schedule

Friday
16:00 -17:00 – Arrive at the Courtyard, relax and settle in to your room
17:15 –  Tea and tasty healthy snack in The Dairymaids House
18:00 – Our first yoga class in The Carriage House – Duration 1.5 hour class
19:30 – Dinner  in The Dairymaids. 2 course meal. Main & dessert. After dinner guests are free to relax.

Saturday
08:30 – Light healthy breakfast snack  (the breakfast snack & fruit is left out from about 8:30 but you are welcome to arrive later, should you wish to lie in)
09:30 – Yoga Class -2 hours
12:30 – Lunch
After lunch – Free time options for Saturday afternoon
– You will be given a walk/trek route to take in some fresh Wicklow air and beautiful forestry and hills
– Visit the Tinahely farm shop & cafe (a Ballymaloe styled café selling crafts and artisan food products) You will need to go in your own cars should you wish to go to the farmshop- 12 minute drive
– Chill out at The Courtyard alone or with others. Have some quiet time, go for a stroll on a country track or relax in one of our 4 sitting rooms.
17:00 – 1.5 hour yoga class
18:30 – Delicious healthy vegetarian 2 course dinner, main & dessert– after dinner free to relax.

Sunday
08:30 – Light healthy breakfast snack  (the breakfast jar & fruit is left out from about 8:30 but you are welcome to arrive later, should you wish to lie in)
09:30 – Yoga class 2 hours
12:30 –Lunch
13:00 – Relax
14:00 – Departure
* Fruit, tea, coffee and an array of loose herbal teas are available in The Dairymaids thoughout the weekend
