In Lou’s enlivening classes, breath, posture, visualisation, mudra and mantra are used. As tone, strength and flexibility build so does awareness and understanding of the inner peace and tranquility that exists in us all. The core basis of Lou’s yoga is a faith in the body as our most valuable tool in connecting us with our true essence.
Highlights

-Visualisation, Mudra, Mantra
-flowing yoga
-finding inner peace
-connect to yourself your spirit and nature
-meditation
-delicious vegetarian food
-fun and sociable meal times
-relax by open fires
-walk in nature

Over the weekend retreat Lou will guide you through the many layers of the yoga practice, from the physical to more subtle. Thousands of years of tradition have crafted the practice to reawaken and reconnect you to your very essence, the very same essence that can be seen in the spectacular natural world throughout the surrounding countryside.

Our busy lives have pulled us so far away from the deep intelligence of our bodies. Throughout the weekend Lou will guide you back to a sense of embodiment and when deep calm is found. The stresses will ease as we slowly begin to identify with all that we are beneath the burden we may carry. Finding our true self.

All elements throughout the weekend, from the stunning surroundings, delicious food, silent meditations and flowing yoga will ensure a re “treat” like no other.

About Lou Horgan

Lou began practicing yoga in 2000 and qualified to teach in 2004. Her journey began by attending a yoga class in a gym in Dublin, within a year she sat in a Himalayan ashram beginning to understand the true essence of yoga, far from its western interpretation. India led to London and an interdisiplinerary training with the Life Centre (Yoga Campus). In that time Lou trained not only with some of the UK’s leading teachers but international teachers such as Richard Freeman and Shiva Rea. It wasn’t until she met Rod Stryker of Para Yoga she found a teacher that communicated the science of yoga, using all elements, not only asana and pranayama but the more subtle practices of mudra mantra and and corner stone of any yoga practice, meditation. Rod took these ancient yogic techniques, “downloaded” by ancient cave dwelling sages and seers and communicated their relevance to Lou as a woman living and working in a busy city of the west. In July 2013 Lou graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition qualifying as a nutritional health coach. Lou believes the body is our greatest tool in connecting us to our true essence and the food we eat has all to do with how that miraculous machine operates. In the thirteen years Lou has been teaching her classes have evolved with her experiences in life. The journey yoga has taken her on, physically mentally and spiritually is always growing evolving and ultimately like life and the universe that we inhabit, expanding.

"My husband and I have nothing but positive to say about The Courtyard. We made to feel very welcome from start to finish, with a ‘home-away-from-home’ sort of feel the food was an absolute treat and the yoga teaching was insightful and inspiring. Would give 6 stars if we could."

"Myself and my Mum had the most fantastic weekend at the Courtyard Yoga Retreat. Everything from the Yoga, to the food, to the setting and the welcome was second to none. Liz Richards is a particularly experienced and excellent yoga teacher. Olivia’s cooking is simply delicious. It is so satisfying, light but filling and extremely tasty and easy to eat. Both Mum and I can’t wait to come back. Thanks v much, Ali"

"Just back from a most amazing yoga retreat at the courtyard. From the warm welcome, yummy treats by the fire, amazing yoga sessions by Liz, and delicious and nutritious food, it was all just perfect for what I was looking for; rest, restoration, learning, good food and lovely company. Liz is a great teacher, bringing it right back to the basics and through her almost meditative stream of instruction bringing you to a new level of yoga awareness. Thank you all at the Courtyard. I will be back!"
